Your first revision in PDFCarry
PDFCarry is a Windows companion to your existing PDF editor. It carries justified accessibility structure and review evidence forward between supported revisions, then shows what still needs checking. It does not turn a validator pass into human approval.
The application is in private preview. This guide describes it as built, so you know what to expect; there is no public download yet, and purchases are not open.
Start with a representative pair
Use a tagged baseline you have already worked on and a revised export of the same document. Try the synthetic sample PDFs first if you are learning the workflow. Your 14-day trial starts at first launch; no card or internet connection is needed for the trial.
The first release supports born-digital PDF 1.x within 50 MB and 200 pages, including ordinary text, images, links and supported grouped graphics. Complete, uniquely matched simple tables and lists can be reconstructed. Scans, signed or encrypted files, interactive forms and complex or ambiguous structures need other tools. A changed table or uncertain match may correctly refuse reuse.
Record what you actually checked
- Create a project from the baseline. Imported tags are not review evidence.
- Select the relevant items and checks and record only what was actually completed. The displayed reviewer name is a local label, not a verified digital signature.
- Import the revision into that project. Review the retained and reopened checks. Content or layout changes can invalidate earlier checks; matching text alone does not prove that reading order, descriptions or relationships remain correct.
- Apply supported corrections, or export for an external editor and reimport the edited file. Reimporting does not silently approve new changes. Use the history to inspect earlier versions; the original PDFs are retained.
Validate and export
Run machine validation and complete the applicable human checks. A PDF/UA-1 machine pass covers machine-checkable rules only. When further work remains, use the export for further review.
The exported ZIP contains the PDF and its evidence manifest. Keep them together. The manifest identifies the exact PDF hash; it does not apply to a different or later edited file.
Activate and manage a subscription
When sales open, the subscription is bought through the PDFCarry billing page, which the application's Licence controls link to. The planned offer is US$349 per year for one reviewer. Stripe hosts payment details; PDFCarry does not receive your full card number.
Billing issues two codes with different jobs:
- The desktop licence key activates the application on one computer. Paste it into the application's Licence controls. Activation needs internet access.
- The separate billing recovery code reopens the billing page in any browser, for invoices, cancellation and installation management. Anyone with it controls your billing access, so keep it in a password manager. It does nothing in the application.
Paid licences are checked periodically and provide up to seven days of verified offline access, capped at the paid-term end. If offline access expires, reconnect and refresh. Viewing and exporting your existing PDFs and evidence remains available even without an active trial or subscription.
To move a seat, deactivate it in the old installation and activate it on the new one. If the old computer is unavailable, billing provides a lost-installation reset once every seven days. A previously verified offline period can remain valid until it expires.
Cancelling renewal keeps access through the paid term. A full refund or unresolved payment dispute can prevent fresh activation. Test-mode purchases are labelled clearly and do not buy a live product licence.
Backups, updates and support
Close PDFCarry before backing up its data folder, shown in Help and local data. Keep a separate backup copy of the entire folder. Exported evidence packages are useful deliverables but do not replace a complete backup of project history.
An installer update preserves project and licence folders, and so does uninstalling the application. Licence storage is protected by your Windows account and should not be copied as a way to transfer a seat.
The support file that the application can download contains application and Windows versions, validator availability, licence state, integrity-issue count and processing limits. It excludes PDFs, filenames, reviewer names, local paths and licence keys. Share a synthetic reproduction where possible; do not send confidential customer PDFs or your project database by default.
