Comparison
How PDFCarry compares with axesPDF, CommonLook and Equidox
These products overlap. Equidox's Zone Transfer and Page Match reuse earlier remediation work on revised or similar PDFs. axesPDF, CommonLook PDF and Equidox also provide broader remediation tools. PDFCarry focuses on individual review records across versions, alongside your existing editor.
The short answer
- You need to make a PDF accessible. Use a remediation editor or service. The three products below all describe that work; PDFCarry's own corrections are limited to titles, language, text roles and descriptions.
- You control the source document. Fix the template and export with tags, so the structure arrives with every version. The revision guide explains why this is usually the better answer.
- Your editor already has a reuse workflow. Try that first. Equidox's revision tools may already cover the job; an additional application adds setup work.
- The same PDF keeps coming back revised and you need a record of each check. PDFCarry retains applicable recorded checks, reopens changed or uncertain ones with a reason, and exports the evidence with the file. The baseline review must first be recorded, and supported-file limits apply.
Equidox's revision tools and PDFCarry
Equidox describes two reuse workflows: Zone Transfer applies zones from a chosen document; Page Match suggests layouts from the organisation's validated pages. Both let the reviewer adjust the result. That is substantial overlap with the reason someone would consider PDFCarry.
PDFCarry records checks separately from tags. For example, a changed caption can reopen the description check on an unchanged image. Its export includes the recorded reviewer label, date, version and check status. The Equidox pages cited here do not establish an equivalent record for each check or how it handles that example. We have not tested Equidox, so this is not a claim that it lacks those capabilities.
Equidox provides a broader editor, OCR, shared team workflows and an on-premises option. PDFCarry is a single-user Windows application with local files and no server to administer. It may fit a reviewer who already has an editor and wants a separate revision record. Neither faster processing nor a lower total cost has been established by this comparison.

Using them together
PDFCarry's intended workflow is to remediate the baseline in your existing editor, record what you checked, then import the client's revision. Reopened items need fresh review and may need correction in that editor. This is file import and export, not a tested integration with every named product. The worked example uses synthetic files and includes a table where PDFCarry refused to carry the earlier review.
PDFCarry is narrower than the tools above by design. If most of your documents arrive once and never come back, or come back rebuilt from a fixed source, it has little to offer you.
How this comparison was made
- Each product's column comes from the vendor pages listed below, read on 30 September 2026. We did not test the other products or compare completion times on the same files.
Not established by cited source
means the cited page did not state it. It is not a claim that the product lacks the feature; vendors offer more than one page, edition and version.- Product names belong to their owners. No vendor reviewed or endorsed this page.
- If something here is out of date or wrong, write to support@pdfcarry.com and it will be corrected with the date.
